10/8 Artists Talk (Online)

10/8 SAT 18:00-20:00 (online live talk)

Host: Hsiang-Yun HUANG (guest curator)

Speaker:

Dutch art studio: ARK Collective/ Exhibited work: “LAWKI-Passages”

Taiwanese artist: Che-Yu HSU/ Exhibited work: “The Making of Crime Scenes”
This year, the exhibiting artists are invited to share their perspectives on their works and the phenomenon of fake news around the world via online live talks. We look forward to having an exchange between the audience and both international and local artists, in the hope of expanding the festival’s horizons and developing deepened aspects on current global issues.

Hsiang-Yun HUANG

B.A. Philosophy (National Taiwan University), M.A. Media: Film and Photographic Studies (Leiden University). Hsiang-Yun’s research focuses on philosophy of time in dynamic images, post-colonial historiography, sociology of internet art. Her articles have been published in Taipei Digital Art Center, Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab and Cloud Art Critiques (supported by National Culture and Arts Foundation). Besides research, she also directs performance films that are inspired by her poetry dealing with the vulnerability of human existence and the circularity of time.

Che-Yu HSU

Che-Yu HSU works as an artist who primarily creates animations, videos, and installations that feature the relations between media and memories. What matters to the artist is not simply the history of events traceable through media, but also the construction and visualization of memories, be they private or collective.

ARK

For the project LAWKI, ARK extended internationally and across disciplines. The group consists of designers and researchers: Louis Braddock Clarke, Roosje Klap, Senka Milutinović, and Zuzanna Zgierska; philosopher Federico Campagna; composer Teoniki Rożynek; computer scientists Arran Lyon and Valentin Vogelmann. ARK’s hybrid method of exchanging knowledge and developing work reflects its artistic ambition to make modern technologies open-ended, inclusive, and fair spaces of participation. Through the process of commoning between humans and algorithms, new knowledges emerge.

ARK Members

Louis Braddock Clarke, Roosje Klap, Arran Lyon, Senka Milutinović, Teoniki Rożynek, Valentin Vogelmann, and Zuzanna Zgierska.
