10/1 Phantom Noise II

Subjective tinnitus is caused by abnormal bioelectric conduction in the auditory pathway. To normalize this irregularity of conduction, the central nervous system discharges electricity more frequently to monitor the auditory pathway. However, this leads to the damage of the original recognition reference for the sound of silence, resulting in tinnitus. The noise of silence, which should not exist, does not interfere with hearing by amplifying and scanning frequencies. Rather, it interferes by destroying the fundamental reference for silence recognition. Applying this mechanism to information could lead to another way of thinking when it comes to our confrontation with fake or junk news.
The performing artists create a generative information flow surrounding experience for the audience by using Creative Coding. Sounds and images are either consciously selected by the artists or picked up randomly by web scraping algorithms. With these audiovisual mixed media, the artists offer a sensory journey in which the borders between fantasy and reality become blurred.
