“Binlang Xishi” is a video that examines the metaphors of “Uncleanness” in various social and cultural contexts with the perspective of feminism. The work consists of three parts in different regions: South Korea, Taiwan and Germany. She has been explored the discourses around the sex industry and the social stigma of prostitution. Binlang Xishi project started from the question: How do we define (un)cleanness? Something can be considered as dirty when it’s out of its own place and therefore make the boundaries unclear and confused. However, rather than debate whether one’s own place is appropriate or not, Mooni Perry tries to use this “In- appropriation” as a power to reverse.
By imagining fallen women as a subject who travel time and space by falling, she will show the audience how to fall, how to travel with the portal (the hole and crack) with the story of Kisaeng (pansori), Binlang Xishi, Necropolitics, feminism discourse after the legalization of prostitution in Germany. The textures of the video will differ by frames in order to present different timelines with 2D/3D cartoonish effects of “Portal” such as the elements from SF film/animation.

Over the past few years, Mooni Perry explored the discourses of Veganism/Human-Animal Studies, (Asian) Feminism and the intersectionality of them and how to address things not with solid voice or language rather, through presenting fragmented elements/montages.
In 2021, she launched an Asian feminist platform – “AFSAR (Asian Feminist Studio for Art and Research) – with curator Hanwen ZHANG funded by Stiftungkunstfonds, Germany and Arts Council Korea. By calling the other artists, theorists, activists through this platform she expects to formulate a massive but loosely connected archive of valuable practices and researches all around the world.
