Shoto Hayakawa 早川翔人
(日本,Japan)Shoto Hayakawa is a Japanese video artist who graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts. He strives to build an inseparable relationship between the audience and the video, or alternatively between audiences who are strangers to each other, by incorporating the audiences into the video as its cast members. Humans in the hunting and gathering era used to play and practice social training while hunting. Via his work, people nowadays perform before a camera to gain similar experience. Living in a modern society after the concept of ‘individual’ and ‘others’ was born, is to play as oneself. Even if people don’t have the titles of performers, experiences of performing before a camera and at the same time watching themselves in a video can become both performance and social training.
